The City of Vancouver undertook a series of Workshops in October & November 2015 to engage the Cambie Corridor Community with respect to Phase 3 of the Cambie Corridor Plan.
Each Workshop represented 1 of 6 key areas running North to South from 16th Avenue to SW Marine Drive between Oak and Ontario Streets (click MAP for reference). There was overwhelming registration for all area workshops which later resulted in a supplemental event for all wait-listed registrants; The City ensured that everyone had a chance to participate and be heard.
“Focus areas” and “unique sites” were designated within each area and were discussed in the context of Phase 3 considerations for more ground-oriented family focused housing choices (such as townhouses and rowhouses).
Feedback suggested that the focus areas presented were too narrow and that “higher density at key transition points from Phase 2 development was logical to address shadowing,” stated Erin Williams of London Pacific’s Community Relations Department.
The City in turn, will consider all Workshop feedback as they develop policy prior to the draft plan (slated for Winter 2017).
